Miss Myra S. Barnes, for whom our school is named, was known as Staten Island's "Fighting Lady" because of her tireless fight for civic progress in the borough. She was an English teacher at Port Richmond High School.

Please be advised of the following special days on the school calendar where student attendance is not required and or the school day is shortened. Thursday, March 14, 2024 is a half-day of school. Dismissal will be 11:17AM.

I can confidently say from experience that this is one of the best middle schools in the city. One of my primary roles is to be your parent advocate here at IS 24, and to actively facilitate a strong and productive relationship between the parents and the school.
