Close quarters battle (CQB) is physical or direct fire contact with an enemy combatant at close range (within ten meters, or “decameter”), under urgent conditions (targets are only able to be engaged for a few seconds) amidst an environment of limited visibility, dense vegetation, or, most commonly, enclosed or subterranean structures.
