Protein Kinase Ime2 Is Required for Mycelial Growth, Conidiation ...
Inducer of meiosis 2 (Ime2), a protein kinase that has been identified in diverse fungal species, functions in the regulation of various cellular processes, such as ascospore formation, pseudohyphal growth, and sexual reproduction.
Ime2, a Meiosis-Specific Kinase in Yeast, Is Required for ...
IME2 is an early meiosis-specific gene whose expression is regulated by Ime1 (48, 49). In this report we showed that in vitro Ime2 phosphorylates Ime1, and in vivo its kinase activity is required for reducing the steady-state level of Ime1. We suggest, therefore, that phosphorylation of Ime1 by Ime2 marks Ime1 for degradation by the 26S proteasome.
The Ime2 Protein Kinase Enhances the Disassociation of the …
Jun 15, 2009 · Ime2 is a meiosis-specific cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)-like kinase that regulates multiple steps in meiotic development . Ime2 has been shown previously to activate Ndt80 ( 34 , 35 ). In addition, ime2 Δ mutants show defects in middle meiotic gene expression that are partially suppressed by sum1 Δ ( 25 ).
Interplay between Chromatin and trans-Acting Factors on the IME2 ...
Dec 11, 2006 · The IME2 gene is one of the key regulators of the initiation of meiosis in budding yeast. This gene is repressed during mitosis through the repressive chromatin structure at the promoter, which is maintained by the Rpd3-Sin3 histone deacetylase (HDAC) complex.
The Meiosis-specific Protein Kinase Ime2 Directs Phosphorylation …
We propose that Ime2 directly catalyzes RPA phosphorylation in the primary reaction and indirectly promotes the Mec1-dependent secondary reaction by advancing cells through meiotic progression. Our studies have identified a novel meiosis-specific reaction that targets a key protein required for DNA replication, repair, and recombination.
The C-terminal Region of the Meiosis-specific Protein Kinase Ime2 ...
Apr 18, 2008 · Ime2 is a highly unstable protein, and we aimed to elucidate the relevance of Ime2 instability. We first determined the sequence elements required for Ime2 instability by constructing a set of deletions in the IME2 gene.
Protein kinase Ime2 is associated with mycelial growth, conidiation ...
Inducer of meiosis 2 (Ime2) is the founding member of a family of serine/threonine protein kinases and plays important roles in yeasts and other filamentous fungi. In this study, we analyzed the functions of Fo Ime2, the ortholog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Ime2 in …
A meiosis-specific protein kinase, Ime2, is required for the correct ...
Wild-type cells and cells lacking one of the two principal regulators of meiosis, Ime1 and Ime2, were compared. We show that premeiotic DNA synthesis does not occur in ime1 Δ diploids, but does occur in ime2 Δ diploids with an 8–9 h delay.
In budding yeast, the meiosis-specific protein kinase Ime2 is required for normal meiotic progression. Current evidence suggests that Ime2 is functionally related to Cdc28, the major cyclin-dependent kinase in yeast that is essential for both cell cycle and meiosis.
Phosphorylation of Ime2 Regulates Meiotic Progression in
Ime2p is functionally related to Cdc28p, the sole essential cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) 2 required for mitosis and meiosis. IME2 transcription begins shortly after meiotic induction and increases further around the time of the chromosomal divisions.
