The Icom IC-820H 2M/440 all-mode transceiver was built with state-of-the-art construction. Output level High on VHF 144-148 MHz is 45W SSB, 35W FM/CW. Output on UHF 430-450 MHz is 40W SSB, 30W FM/CW. Output level Low is 6 watts.

The IC-820H appears to 'break the bounds' in a high-performance VHF/UHF set capable of satellite operation in terms of its size and weight. It's eminently suitable for 'sticking in the car' and nipping up to the local hilltop for a spot of portable operation.

I've owned my IC-820H for 6 years now without a single problem. Transmit performance is excellent with no bad artifacts. Robust front end, good filtering, provision for cw filter are all positive features of this well designed radio. All the controls work well with no wobbling, the display is really excellent and clear.

"Mine" also had an extended receive range: 136 to 174 MHz which was very useful. This feature is not documented in the manual. The radio is small.
