IC 1049 is a Spiral Galaxy in the Draco constellation. IC 1049 is situated close to the northern celestial pole and, as such, it is visible for most part of the year from the northern hemisphere. Given its B magnitude of 14.8, IC 1049 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 20 inches (500mm) or more.

UGC 9461 also known as IC1049 which is short for Index Catalogue number 1049. The Index Catalogue is an update to the earlier NGC catalogue. UGC 9461 is not a Messier Object and doesn't have a Messier Number.
