May 30, 2024 · Hiraga stated the importance of fast current-delivery capability. And most regulators are known to become inductive at high frequencies. So perhaps a capacitor multiplier, a la John Lindsley Hood Class A, is a better choice.

Aug 24, 2002 · For Hiraga, 20..25Volts each rail are good, for "Le Monstre", about 12..14 volts. As the Hiraga and the monster only idle currents in the one amp region, at least for the monster the second Mosfet can be omitted.

Mar 13, 2004 · Jean Hiraga designed a riaa stage based on ECC83 tubes with passive riaa correction between gain stages, not battery operated of course. He designed a MC step-up amp, simplest device ever, to my ears best step-up there is. This is battery operated, 2 lead acid 6V cells 10Ah + 2x 500 000 uF caps.

Apr 25, 2012 · The Hiraga 20/30W Class A amps using the orginal transistors are still very fine sounding amps. I would not recommend to change the transistor types as long as it is not neccessary, because such class A amp's depends much on their components, as it is the same with Nelson Pass amps etc.

So today I finished both boards from Jim's audio, I hooked one up to 27 volt, and they work nicely, but, bias is a bit low, I measured 200 mili volt across ballast resistors that's roughly 0.6 amps, I would like it to run a bit hotter, 1-1.5 amps, I attach schematics, I hope any of you can help.

Aug 24, 2002 · I did build Hiraga 20 W and Monstre versions for several occasions. As well do I have one original manufactured 20 Watter for almost 15 years now. The 20/30 Watter to my ears sounds more friendly and tubelike, almost warm. It has a beautiful midrange and a full bottom end and a silky smooth top end.
