The group has done a lot of research and recording of the known serial numbers. I think there was/is an updated article but I could not find it.

Frank: On your listing of numbers, I believe those are the ones that appeared in Kellerstedt's book on the Springfield sabers and swords and also are shown on Tom Wiltzuis's Springfield Edge website.

May 22, 2011 · A quick look at Bezdek will give you an idea of the numbers produced for the 1861-dated contract, and compare this against numbers for later contracts. Personally, I'd prefer the 1861. It's early enough that it probably saw service, and the Chelmsford-marked blades are common. I don't remember seeing a Roby blade without it.
