Mar 25, 2025 · The Town of Geneva is a growing community, about fifty miles east of Rochester and west of Syracuse; it was recognized as a Town on November 15, 1872. While the Town has retained its agricultural roots, it has grown with commercial and tourism related development.

The Town Clerk is responsible for maintaining records of adopted Town Ordinances and Local Laws, Town Oaths of Office, resignations, petitions, proof of publications, etc., as well as the filing of burial permits for cemeteries located within the Town.

The Geneva Town Court handles small claims, landlord/tenant, traffic, and misdemeanor cases. For more information please contact the court clerk.

The Code Enforcement Officer assists in facilitating economic development within the Town and works closely with residents and developers to guide projects through the Town’s planning and zoning review processes. Planning and Zoning Board agendas are coordinated by the Code Enforcement Officer.

The five-member Town Board regularly meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Town Hall. Board members and Town Department heads are normally in the meeting room at 5:30 to be available for informal meetings and conversation with Town residents and business owners.

Meetings: Planning Board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm in the Town Hall. The Planning Board reviews applications for subdivisions and site development in the Town of Geneva.
