Mar 28, 2015 · I swapped them out when I blew a coil pack. The coil packs are one of the "weak points" on the GTI. If you can save yourself future trouble do it. Buy R8 coils and some NGK spark plugs. Prevention is better than fixing a failure.

Oct 24, 2013 · From what I've read, and how's a tech explained it to me is that the R8's offer less resistance than the VW stock coils, BUT sometimes the plugs can't handle the little extra umph being feed to them, which is sometimes why you here people talking about getting the R8/plug kit.

May 9, 2017 · I've just bought a set of R8 coil packs for my 05 gti, how much of a performance gain should I see/feel? I've heard people raving about them but been told to keep hold of the OEM ones as they'll burn out quicker.
