They are different sounding DAPs, M9 is a little warmer and thicker sounding while M6 is neutral and retaining that typical sabre qualities. M9 has balanced out and a lot of power to drive demanding headphones and a volume wheel which works better than earlier FiiO models.

Mar 2, 2014 · Each one of these players does something right – the sound and scroll wheel for the M2X, the nicely sized screen for the R3, the search function and customizability for the M6 – but unfortunately also something quite wrong – the janky scroll on the M2X, the weird-ish interface on the R3, the back button on the Fiio.

Dec 12, 2018 · Test case. I have the same ALAC files stored on an iPhone XS and the FIIO M6. Headphones connected wired to the M6. When I play from the M6 the songs sounds crystal clear with a fairly large soundstage (tested using SYML's Mr Sandmand and a few Vallis Alps songs - Run, Young) ALAC files played from iPhone and Airplay'd to the M6 sounds awful.
