Aug 18, 2024 · The BL-2 was used by FEC mainly as a freight hauler. I have never had to series wire a Williams engine, my engines are from the Crown Edition era. Is this something new because Bachmann uses a newer circuit board?

Dec 18, 2024 · Electro-Motive's BL2 was the stepping stone for the company's highly successful General Purpose (GP) series. The locomotive was a derivative of the F3, EMD's most successful cab model until the F7 debuted in 1949.

The EMD BL2 is a model of diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD). A total of 58 units (plus a single BL1) were built between 1947 and 1949. [1] .

Apr 16, 2025 · Production of the BL2 ended in 5/1949, and a few months later, the GP-7 was available. The GP-7 took advantage of the lessons learned from the BL-2 and sold well until it was superceded by the GP-9, which sold over 4000 units.

I just wanted to give an update on the FEC BL2 I bought from one of the guys in the club. It is a P2K model, runs well has decoder no sound. The unit had some none FEC details like a coil/dynamic brake grid on long hood, hand rails on nose, horn on side of long hood, funky sun shades (photos of FEC BL2s have no sunshades). I carefully removed all of those. The exhaust stacks did not look right ...

This page is dedicated to EMD's models BL1 & BL2. EMD built x BL1 & BL2 units for a variety of railroads. The only BL1 built was the demonstrator which was sold to the C&EI. All subsequent units were BL2 units.
