Nov 13, 2022 · C&NW 4120 and 4190 remained in extended service on UP because they are assigned to the former C&NW coach yard in Chicago, Illinois Because of their low end step design, they work well with the Metra bi-level commuter cars. The units were also equipped with C&NW's ATC and ATS train control used along the commuter corridor.

For anyone who keeps tabs on the modern day Union Pacific roster and also for any Chicago Northwestern fans, I am sad to report that the UP 6707, ex. CNW 8805 has been retired and scrapped at Hays, Kansas. The unit is the first unit out of the 35 locomotive order for CNW that has been retired/scrap.
