• CSIR IIP-EIL-NRL have plans to commercialize Wax De-oiling technology in 2 Indian Refineries to produce ~35 KTPA Paraffin Wax. This technology is very competitive for refineries having availability of heavy waxy feed stocks not only in India but abroad as well.

Feb 11, 2019 · This wax plant is designed to produce high quality and high value 50,000 Metric Ton Per Annum (MTPA) of ‘Paraffin Wax’ and 4,500 MTPA of ‘Microcrystalline Wax’. CSIR- IIP has developed this ‘Wax De-oiling Technology’ with Engineers India Limited (EIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).

CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun, in association with the Engineers India Ltd. (EIL) won an international competition to adopt the Wax Deoiling Technology developed by CSIR-IIP, at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL).

Based on the technology developed indigenously by CSIR-IIP and EIL, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) set up a grassroots ‘Wax De-oiling Plant’ with an investment of about Rs. 676 crores. This is the first wax plant installed by any petroleum refinery in India based on home-grown technology, that too with the largest investment in its category.
