Dec 16, 2024 · In 1940 the first, true cow-calf model was outshopped by EMD; designated class TR (TRansfer), it was based on the popular 1,000 horsepower NW2. However, instead of Winton prime movers the locomotive featured EMD's highly reliable 12-cylinder, model 567 power plant.

Dec 19, 2024 · As for the cow/calf TR6 just twelve sets were built; one demonstrator (that went to Southern Pacific), eight for the Oliver Iron Mining Company, and three more to SP. Once again, the reliability and versatility of the SW series has been well represented in the SW8 as numerous models continue to perform admirably in all types of settings.

Have just converted an HO Trains TR6 cab unit to SP 1105, as shown in the R.L. Dengler prototype photo here. This required addition of a 3 chime horn, redoing the front handrails and installing a front drop step as well as a rear drop step, and mu cable connections.

The Quincy 1100 is an EMD TR6 switching locomotive built in 1951 as a demonstrator and sold to Southern Pacific. While working the NWP in Eureka between 1951 and 1953 it was given the name, “Little Lulu” after a comic strip character, a name it retains today.
