Difference in switchers, SW7/9? and SW1200/1500?
Jul 1, 2009 · The name change at EMD seems to reflect the change from the single digit to a number representing the horsepower. The SW8 and SW900 are also identical. They are the single stack versions of the SW9 and SW1200 respectively. The SW7 is actually a much older machine, although superficially it appears very much like the SW9/1200.

I 3D designed an N Scale Boxcab | ModelRailroadForums.com
Apr 7, 2023 · What locomotive do I use to pull it? I'm the type of railfan that likes the obscure, ugly relics of the distant past. Horrendously outdated machines that have no right existing on into the modern era. Some may feel that the humble, albiet well loved EMD SW9 belongs in that category, and indeed it was my first choice of loco for the task at hand.

Apr 22, 2023 · Even though the SW9 never had the 567 diesel with a turbo (just a Roots supercharger) I like the sound of the turbo, so that's what prime mover I gave it. My railroad, my rules. I did have to remove the piece of styrene under the decoder, and mount the decoder directly on top of the motor with the double sided foam tape.
Large switcher roster - ModelRailroadForums.com
Jul 20, 2014 · That is a pretty good and interesting mix. My switcher roster would be much more boring. Something like Alco S-2 x 20, Baldwin VO-1000 x 3, SW1 x 2, SW9 x 5, end of list. I have had the HH600 on my list since they announced the last road names.
Proto 2K SW9/SW1200 | ModelRailroadForums.com
Jan 26, 2011 · Hello, This is my first post and I would like to ask a simple question. I just recently purchased a Proto 2K SW9/SW1200 as CNR #7035 and I was wondering would the shell of a Athearn SW1200 fit with the frame of a Proto 2K SW9/SW1200? My current diesel roster includes: 2 X EMD GP9RM (Chopped...

EMD TR5A | ModelRailroadForums.com
Apr 22, 2023 · These are not SW9's, which Uncle Pete's DS1870 TR5A is built from. These are SW7's. I have learned that the most obvious difference is the number of louvered doors on the side. SW7's had 6, while the SW9's had 8. These models have 6. While the SW7's were also produced as cow-calf TR unit's, they were designated as TR4's. Uncle Pete never had ...
Intercooler Piping on an EMD SW9 | ModelRailroadForums.com
Jul 22, 2005 · I'm modeling the BAR SW-9s in various stages in their existence on the BAR. I'm using the LL P2K units and custom painting them. There is one obvious detail about the P2K models that differs from the prototype… the intercooler piping and fuel tank are different. I think I could handle the...
