Eldritch Knights get pretty darn good at holding the line. It's almost impossible to lose concentration on a spell, so things like blur and haste make you able to absorb an absurd amount of attacks. Then add blade ward, absorb elements, and shield.

Player cast a spell that is 30ft in a stright line BUT the player wanted to (without moving his character) cast the spell at an angle so it would cross into the next grid line and hit both monsters.

Jun 4, 2018 · That is not a straight line as the Lightning Bolt asks for. I know the spell itself doesn't explicitly say a straight path, but a line which the spell mentions is defined as a straight path in the book. I'd rule it's not a valid area on the picture.

Regarding to line of sight, being an ally or an enemy is irrelevant. Any creature between you and your target: Gives half cover to the target; Does not block your vision; See Player's Handbook, "Cover" (page 196): A target with half cover has a +2 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws.
