The Dongfeng 5 (simplified Chinese: 东风-5; traditional Chinese: 東風-5; pinyin: Dōng Fēng Wǔ; lit. 'East Wind 5') or DF-5 is a second-generation two stage Chinese intercontinental ballistic missile. It has a length of 32.6 m and a diameter of 3.35 m. It weighs in at 183,000 kilograms and it has an estimated range of 13,000 to 16,000 kilometers.

The Dong Feng-5, or DF-5, is China’s first Intercontinental Ballistic Missile to exceed 10,000km and was showcased during a military parade in 1983. Fitted with a single warhead, the original ICBM variant has a length of 32.6m, a diameter of 3.35m, and weighs 183,000 kilograms. [1] .

The DF5 (Chinese: 东风5 (Dōngfēng 5) or "East Wind") is a diesel-electric locomotive used by China Railway in the People's Republic of China. It has been in production since 1976 and was still produced as of 2006 by several local companies.

When the DF-5 was first tested in September 1971, it had a range of 10,000 to 12,000 kms which allowed it to threaten the western portions of the United States. Beginning in 1983 the Chinese inaugurated the improved DF-5A, with an increased of over 13,000 km and a more accurate guidance system.

DF5 creates a stronger downstroke increasing power, torque and MPG. DF5 contains no alcohol and works in both Diesel and Gas fuels. One ounce treats 25 gallons of fuel. DF5 optimizes combustion creating more power, increased MPG and significantly less emissions, regen issues and DEF consumption.

Although deployed in very limited numbers as an ICBM, this rocket became the basis for an entire family of space launch vehicles and the foundation of the Chinese space program.
