Cwm Pennant is a little known valley firmly on the unfashionable side of Snowdonia. This is a cracking little walk from Cwm Pennant, up to Cwm Trwsgl and a little explore of the quarries. There’s usually a decent view, but it was a tad cloudy today!

This circular walk explores the beautiful Cwm Pennant in the Snowdonia National Park. This stunning valley stretches from north of the villages of Dolbenmaen and Golan towards the Drwys y Coed pass, between Moel Hebog and Crib Nantlle.

Cwm Pennant is wonderful unspoilt and secluded valley in the north-eastern part of the Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park. Once home to extensive slate quarries that were served by a narrow gauge railway, the valley has returned to peace and quiet.

Apr 26, 2018 · Cwm Pennant is topped by a curved ridge with steep, sweeping sides of loose rocky detritus. For me, the magic of this valley is cemented in this end point; the horseshoe ridge is like a stopper where the only way forward would be to climb up the precipitous edge.

Cwm Pennant is a narrow valley accessed from the A487 between Caernarfon and Porthmadog, from the hamlet of Dolbenmaen in Snowdonia. It runs for about 3 miles in a north easterly direction cutting into the Eifionydd range alongside Moel Hebog and ends is a glacial corrie under the southern flank of the Nantlle Ridge.
