If I open the serial bus controller line in device manager it does not provide the port information. What I am trying do is connect to my network switch with a terminal emulation program via an Ethernet cable out of the back of the switch.

When i do listen on the port though, the echo "LP" > com1 command gives an unavaible error, so sending the command works in cmd.

When I try to find out what hardware is assigned to Port 1 using the device manager, all I see in the Comm Ports is "Comm Port 1 In Use". I need to know what hardware is using Comm Port 1 so I can assign that hardware to another port thereby freeing up Comm Port 1 for my program to use.

Follow the wizard to Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, choose Ports (COM & LPT), Standard and Communications Port. However, I would suspect this will not work with your device.
