Core-binding factor subunit beta is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CBFB gene. [5] [6]The protein encoded by this gene is the beta subunit of a heterodimeric core-binding transcription factor belonging to the PEBP2/CBF transcription factor family which master-regulates a host of genes specific to hematopoiesis (e.g., RUNX1) and osteogenesis (e.g., RUNX2).

Feb 9, 2025 · Vif and CBFbeta form a platform to recruit A3F, revealing a direct A3F-recruiting role of CBFbeta beyond Vif stabilization. CBFB is essential for HIV-1 Vif to arrest host cells at G2/M phase. Vif-CBFB interaction is required for Vif-triggered cell cycle regulation.

Apr 15, 2001 · Core-binding factor beta (CBFbeta) is the non-DNA-binding subunit of the heterodimeric CBFs. Genes encoding CBFbeta (CBFB), and one of the DNA-binding CBFalpha subunits, Runx1 (also known as CBFalpha2, AML1, and PEBP2alphaB), are required for normal hematopoiesis and are also frequent targets of chr …

CBFB gene: MedlinePlus Genetics
The CBFB gene provides instructions for making a protein called core binding factor beta (CBFβ), which is one piece of a protein complex known as core binding factor (CBF). CBFβ attaches (binds) to one of three related RUNX proteins (RUNX1, RUNX2, or RUNX3) to form different versions of CBF. These protein complexes bind to specific regions of DNA and help turn on (activate) certain genes.

Feb 11, 2025 · CBFbeta plays an essential role in female fertility by acting as a critical cofactor of CBF transcription factor complexes, which regulate the expression of specific key ovulatory and luteal genes, thus coordinating the ovulatory process and luteal development/function in mice.

Forms the heterodimeric complex core-binding factor (CBF) with RUNX family proteins (RUNX1, RUNX2, and RUNX3). RUNX members modulate the transcription of their target genes through recognizing the core consensus binding sequence 5'-TGTGGT-3', or very rarely, 5'-TGCGGT-3', within their regulatory regions via their runt domain, while CBFB is …

Jun 30, 2010 · CBFbeta is a transcriptional co-activator that is recruited to promoters by Runx transcription factors and there is considerable evidence that CBFbeta is essential for the function of Runx factors.

The CBFbeta subunit increases the affinity of the DNA-binding Runt domain of CBFalpha for DNA while making no direct contacts to the DNA. We present evidence for conformational exchange in the S-switch region in a Runt domain-DNA complex that is quenched upon CBFbeta binding.
