Dec 6, 2010 · There may be conduit for your wiring and/or VHF antenna. Stand on deck and look at your mast - you should see rivets going up. If you do, that is what is holding your conduit in place. Some masts were built with the conduit molded-in when it was made at the aluminum extruding factory, but I don't think Catalina used any of those on the 27's.

Jan 8, 2023 · Not a Catalina 27 owner. I know a couple and I have been around their boats on the Salish Sea (Puget Sound and BC Canadian waters). The Catalina 27's are solid boats that can handle the inside passage waters on most days better than most crews want to tolerate. A 27 ft boat is a compact yacht. Rain days and fog can make the boat feel small.

Around mid 1985, Catalina changed the deck mold to the sloping cabin that makes better ventilation, especially in the v-berth. Also, there are slight changes in the head and more galley space. Note that you can have a separation between the hull and keel from incorrect blocking on the hard, but not necessarily need to replace the wood /or keel bolts. My 1984 Catalina 27 has had some lateral play in the tiller for some time - but following a grounding, it has become significantly greater. Sooo, I tried to tighten the bolt which which goes through the rudder shaft ( it was very loose) was very loose and it immediately sheared.
