CNR EMD GP9 #1728 at Peterborough Ont. Nov 1955 The EMD GP9 is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division in the United States, and General Motors Diesel in Canada between January, 1954, and August, 1963.

Delivered by GMD to CNR July 9, 1956. Seen here with a Northern heading east from Mimico Yard on the freight-only High Line bypassing Spadina coach yard and Union Station. 8147 MLW S-4 76486 9/49.

wrecked 19 October 1963 at mile 4.3 of the Oakville Subdivision, near Sunnyside, ON. Along with 4453 it had a head on collision with 3725 and 4457.

Canadian National Railway 4000-4036 are CN/ GMDD GP9RM diesel locomotives. They were rebuilt in batches by CN at their Pointe St. Charles Shops in Montreal, Quebec during the 1980's and 1990's from GP9 locomotives originally built by GMDD in the 1950's. They were given the designation "RM" for "Remanufactured".

Units coupled to 7200-series GP9RM's.

CNR GP9 Phase III #4346. Fiddling with a Proto 2000 GP18 to make a Canadian National GP9 Phase III. Well, that's the general idea. After locating the GP18 model it soon became apparent that CN never actually owned any GP18s, 4346 is actually a late GP9.

Aug 25, 2019 · Doing some research about railways there, I stumbled upon a nice picture of a CV GP9 still sporting the old CNR green & gold paint scheme from the 1950s as late as 1978. It gave me the idea to model one based on this photo from cnrphotos.com:
