Dec 25, 2024 · This gene encodes the integrin alpha M chain. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. This I-domain containing alpha integrin combines with the beta 2 chain (ITGB2) to form a leukocyte-specific integrin referred to as macrophage receptor 1 ('Mac-1'), or inactivated-C3b (iC3b) receptor ...
Integrin alpha M - Wikipedia
Integrin alpha M (ITGAM) is one protein subunit that forms heterodimeric integrin alpha-M beta-2 (α M β 2) molecule, also known as macrophage-1 antigen (Mac-1) or complement receptor 3 (CR3). [5] . ITGAM is also known as CR3A, and cluster of differentiation molecule 11B (CD11B).
CD11b Marker: Roles in Immunity and Clinical Relevance
Feb 11, 2025 · CD11b is a critical marker in immunology, primarily associated with myeloid cells. Its significance extends beyond basic research, influencing our understanding of immune responses and disease processes. By examining CD11b’s roles, we gain insight into its importance in both normal physiological functions and pathological conditions.

Jan 4, 2025 · CD11b is a therapy resistance- and minimal residual disease-specific marker in precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Rhein P, et al. Blood, 2010 May 6. PMID 20228269. Association of a non-synonymous functional variant of the ITGAM gene with systemic sclerosis. Carmona FD, et al. Ann Rheum Dis, 2011 Nov. PMID 21571730.
CD11b is a therapy resistance– and minimal residual …
May 6, 2010 · CD11b positivity conferred a 5-fold increased risk of minimal residual disease (MRD) after induction therapy (day 33) and of high-risk group assignment after consolidation therapy (day 78). In the multivariate analysis CD11b expression was an independent prognostic factor compared with other clinically relevant parameters at diagnosis.
A Novel Genetic Model of Constitutively Active Integrin CD11b…
We genetically targeted the Itgam gene (which codes for CD11b) to introduce a point mutation that results in the I332G substitution in the protein. The I332G mutation in CD11b promotes an active, higher affinity conformation of the ligand-binding I/A-domain (CD11b αA-domain).

The CD11b-integrin (ITGAM) and systemic lupus erythematosus
Variations at the ITGAM gene, which encodes for the CD11b chain of the Mac-1 (alphaMbeta2; CD11b/CD18; complement receptor-3) integrin, is one of the strongest genetic risk factors for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Jan 1, 2001 · To begin to understand the mechanisms by which expression of these gene products is restricted to leukocytes and leukocyte subpopulations and to elucidate the mechanisms by which their expression is coordinated, we have cloned and characterized the promoter region of the CD11b gene.
