Apr 22, 2008 · I don't care for the large pack. It sticks to far from the body and makes yourself tipsy. Also encourage one to pack to much weight. I think the frame with a medium Alice pack is just about perfect although you can not get a sleeping bag in it and anything else. I decided to lash the sleeping bag to the bottom of the pack and to the frame.

Can hunt many things with it, use for self defense in a pinch, etc. Remember, I'm figuring out not just my car carry which would include service caliber firearms and a shotgun, but if I had to disembark with a large sized bug out bag in a true SHTF situation.

For me, a bug-out (or get-home) bag is typically a pack and is designed for multiple days (3-10 days); my bail out bag is really a 24 hour/fire-fight/emergency bag. Again, you define your requirements and use whatever label you like...

Jul 17, 2011 · The purpose of a Bug Out Bag is if you and your family have to leave home in an emergency, the bag provides a few days of supplies for each person. Lets say there is a chemical leak near your house and your family has to evacuate. Everyone grabs their bag, and heads to a shelter or friends house. My main bug out bag use to be a large ALICE pack.

Jan 12, 2012 · A 14-15 inch hatchet is primarily good for knocking out small branches or thumb size sticks and cutting foods. You CAN knock out something wrist size, but it is not as effective. Now when you get to 24-26 inch range, you have a lot more leverage, de-limb, cut out staves, quarter wood etc etc.
