Nov 7, 2022 · Yes, you are correct to the best of my knowledge about ADS and Braun being separate products in later years despite their somewhat common beginnings. I guess I should have said similar size drivers in the 2 different speakers. Digging around on the net indicates quite a convoluted history for Braun and ADS.

Jan 14, 2018 · The L1030 grills are quite flimsy, convex but flimsy enough to be pushed into the mid and make for some grill embossing on the domes. I found the coating on the mids was water soluble and was able to brush out the markings, too much water and off comes it all. I converted the L1030 cabinets into Infinity Qbs, a big improvement over the Qb cabs.

Jul 8, 2010 · Also, I'm uncertain of the impedance of the L910, but the L1030 was available in both 8 and 4 ohm versions. The L910 is bi-ampable (with an external xover). The L910, along with the L1530 and L2030, is considered by many to be the holy grail of ADS speakers even if the Braun L1030 may be somewhat more rare. Dave

Jul 16, 2006 · ADS owned Braun hifi for ~10 years and then sold it back to Gillette. Gillette approached ADS, as the prinicipal of the company, Godehard Guenther, had a prior relationship with Braun. He was the US importer of the line in the early 70's. It may seem like tail wags dog, but when the deal went down, Braun hifi was the sick man.

Previously I powered them with a Nikko 120 watt per channel power amp and now would like to go tube. The Nikko had more than enough power, even in my younger days when I tended to play music MUCH louder than I do now!
