This map of the Lothians was eventually published in 1630, although it would be Hondius’ rival, the firm of Blaeu, who in the end published the main bulk of Pont’s work in Volume V of the Atlas novus, often called the Blaeu Atlas of Scotland (1654).

Blaeu Atlas of Scotland, 1654 Joan Blaeu (c. 1599-1673) by Christopher Fleet. Joan Blaeu was the eldest son of Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571-1638), and was probably born in Alkmaar in the province of Noord-Holland in the final years of the 16th century.

The Atlas of Scotland therefore appeared as Volume V of Blaeu's Atlas novus, including 49 maps of Scotland and six maps of Ireland. As the Atlas was not bound until ordered, a wide number of different states are known to exist, only some of which can be dated.
