Mar 17, 2007 · Yah, paper ballistics are good, for trajectory, but a pin hole through an elk, because the bullet didn't expand enough, will have you on you're hands and knees for a long, long, distance. A LFN @1600fps {300yd impact} will cut a .75" permanent hole all the way through, that elk is not going to live, if you did your part. Food for thought.

Aug 15, 2008 · Then, one year it happened. I was on Monument Ridge near Bondurant, Wy in 1990. I shot 2 doe Mulies and the biggest Elk of my career (so far). While field dressing, I found I had taken one doe with a 150gr Sierra and the other with a 200gr Nosler - the Bull Elk went down to a 175gr Sierra. That was the 2nd elk taken with the 175gr Sierra.

May 12, 2007 · The biggest problem is finding the right bullet a bullet that is too hard will not effectively kill a deer it will kill it but it will run (one year a smallish doe ran 200-300 yards with a straight rib shot @ 40 yards the same load dropped a cow elk right there, 225 partition).
