Sep 10, 2007 · BSP S-61s final departure - the end of an era Today (7th September 2007) saw the last of the 3 BSP S-61s depart Anduki airfield (WBAK) for the last time, following the other 2 leaving yesterday, after 40 years of continuous accident free operations.

They were developed and produced by the American helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft. The commercial version of the Sea King was developed during the late 1950s. Two versions, the land-based S-61L and the amphibious S-61N, were created.

Sikorsky today recognized Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) for 50 years of continuous service with Sikorsky helicopters. The recognition event took place at the inaugural 2017 Rotorcraft Asia show. Sikorsky is a Lockheed Martin company.

The Sikorsky S-61 is a twin-engined helicopter originally designed as an embarked anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft with the military designation of SH-3 Sea King. Was the first helicopter to combine the roles of Hunter and Killer in an unique airframe.
