All 4 U25C's worked in coal service with rebuilt B-units now serving as the receivers until new BN U30C's arrived on the property and the equipment was eventually removed from the four U25C's. All 30 U25C's were on the BN roster at the time of their retirement in 1981.

BN U25C 5632 was built 8/65 by GE as CB&Q 552 and delivered in Chinese red paint. It was the third of twelve 2500 HP U25C's built in 1965 for the Burlington Route numbered 550-561.

I don't remember the exact BN numbering system, but the low 5600's were U25C's and the higher ones were 28's. Both NP and Burlington had U28C's in this carbody. Another spotting feature is that the handrail stanchions go farther down the side sill on 28's than 25's.

The U25C is a diesel locomotive built by General Electric intended for the United States domestic market. Launched in September 1963, it remained in production until December 1965. It was replaced by the U28C.

Mar 22, 2008 · This BN U25C was built for the NP in 1965, and was sent to the scrapper only 16 years later. I know at least one SP U25… It didn’t take long for GE U-boats to disappear from the rails, especially the early U25B and U25Cs.

BN GE U28C 5664 built April 1966 as CB&Q 576, retired Nov. 1981 and seen in Galesburg, IL May 19, 1979. Any idea what was in the room behind the cab on these units that occasioned the box on the roof and the additional vents in the side of the hood?

General Electric U25C Diesels 5604, Class U25C, was built in May 1964, #35039, as Northern Pacific 2504. It became BN 5604, Class U25C, in 1970 and was retired in March 1981.
