Yesterday, I pulled the HES and confirmed that the insulation has cracked, much like many other GS owners have.

May 5, 2021 · I have removed the HES on my R1100RT after a few occasions of the engine just cutting and then starting 10 minutes later. The techno jumped about when this happened and there was no spark which, I am told, is one of the indicators that the HES has failed. This is normally due to the wiring degrading .
