
The BL2: EMD's Ugly Duckling? - Railfan
The BL2 was merely an (un-intended) experimental locomotive that was a unique sight on the rails that were dominated by cab units and, later, road switchers. Railfans can be glad that this distinctive model was produced, since variety of motive power is important to a railfan.

May 19, 2021 · — Two rare EMD BL2 locomotives are bound for Indiana’s Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum. On Wednesday, the tourist railroad announced it was leasing former Bangor & Aroostook 52 and 56 from a private owner.

5 days ago · The BL2 did, of course, have an electric throttle arrangement which could be used with other EMD units with MU. The BL2 was essentially like the F-3 electrically; however, the throttle lever itself in the BL2 does not have an escapement latch, which allows rapid opening.
