Jul 15, 2020 · Azula isn’t evil, she is a self serving opportunist and wanted ultimate power (she felt entitled to being the daughter of Ozai), respect and control over her life. She was a deeply unhappy person and the only thing that gave her happiness was when others appeased her will and praised her.

Jun 13, 2024 · Ursa left years before Azula took pleasure in Zuko’s banishment and in that interim she only had Ozai instilling his values in her. Even Zuko outwardly rejected Iroh’s love and care initially so I’m not sure Azula had a chance in her environment.

I love this scene. Azula, this calm, cocky, collected badass has absolutely no words for what Mai's saying here. The shell cracks, and Azula for once in her life has absolutely nothing witty to retort with other than "No, you!". And to boot, it's easy to imagine Azula seeing Ursa saying this.

Jan 3, 2023 · Calling Azula a psychopath is the kind of shallow, stigmatized reading of an abused child suffering from mental illness that frankly borders on ableism. She never does anything worse than Zuko, and unlike Zuko she never targets a single civilian.
