The RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex" (RX-78NT-1 ガンダム「アレックス」 RX-78NT-1 Gandamu Arekkusu?, "Alex" being an acronym for "Armored Layers EXperimental") is the main mobile suit featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket OVA series. It is a next generation Gundam built specifically for Newtypes.

Utilizing a newer inner frame structure and armor proportions, the Alex has been re-designed from the ground up and includes updated features such as an opening shield and armor for arm-mounted gatling guns and thrusters, broken blade antennae, and a mask that was previously only seen on the SD Gundam version.

The RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 Alex was a big step above its already-well-performing (but hopelessly overworked) RX-78-2 predecessor.

The FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Alex (aka FA-78NT-1 Full Armor Gundam NT-1) was a variant of the RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam 0080 MSV. It later appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam Katana.
