Aug 15, 2009 · To determine the most suitable hull form you need to have a target weight in mind. You would also be better off considering a larger diameter prop. The horsepower will get impressive speed if you swing a large prop on a light boat. Whether planning or long slender hull depends on what you want to do and how much weight you want to move.

Nov 4, 2013 · Both the boats I built with small blocks 383 500hp I used 3 blade r series 82 inch and they cruised at between 2700 and 3000. My customers wanted a boat that wouldn't kill then in fuel and that set up seemed to do real well. 14x8 hulls with 2.7 boxes. I hope hat helped. Mine typically run 2400-2600rpm.
