There is one instructor available locally that offers the 2-day course/exam and I am considering that. However, I am going to San Diego on business in May where there is a school that offers an ASA 101 challenge as well, which is a one day paper/water exam.

Jun 23, 2014 · I completed ASA 101 (J-24), 103 & 104 (Catalina 42) in a bunch over eight days at the Santa Barbara Sailing Center, learned a ton and had a blast. The following season my wife and I had a timeshare on a Jeanneau 40 on Lake Michigan; we took private lessons to manage docking in Belmont Harbor and got pretty good at it - and loved the sailing.

Sep 9, 2013 · Well Day two of ASA 101 is completed and I passed. I thought the test was easier than I anticipated but it covered a lot of ground at the same time, but more in a general sense than getting really detailed. It'll be cool to have that sticker in my log book.

May 22, 2011 · About 2012 I found a school that would let me challenge both ASA 101 and 103. Back then you had to challenge each individual rating. I paid for 2 hours of the instructor's time, passed two written tests and showed him I knew how to sail.
