Icom 7300/7610 Digital Mode ALC Zone - QRZ Forums
Apr 30, 2018 · Decent RF output of approximately 20 to 30 Watts can be had on digital modes without any ALC metering indication -- without the ALC limiter or compressor distorting the digital waveform. Uncompressed digital waveforms are critical to the ease of digital reception, signal cleanliness and or faithful reproduction.

Dec 6, 2023 · • Keep ALC activity low—set the mic gain so the meter just shows ALC activity on your voice peaks and none when operating digital modes. • Alternatively, use a wattmeter to find the point where the peak power stops increasing as you turn up the mic gain, and operate just below that gain setting.

Jan 18, 2023 · 4) The RF2KS is a "SDR Amplifier" meaning the software for it is continually upgraded and improved. New releases happen regularly. The Lux seems to be stable image, not upgraded often. Other thoughts: I got 2 x RF2KS in six month time window and still waiting going on 1 year for the LUX.

Apr 30, 2018 · Because with Yaesu 857D if ALC is 0 so is the output! 0 ALC = 0 watt out. 2-3 bars os ALC = full set power out. On Icom 7300 I see that even 1 or 0 ALC produces 95% power out but going to 5-7 ALC produces 100% set power to go out. That is still in "normal" ALC zone. Tested with 2 power meters inline and 2 mentioned RIGs. Only FT8 mode tested.

Nov 22, 2019 · Allowing some ALC action can permit the ALC to act as an automatic gain adjustment to keep the output power level as you change frequencies. Linear and Non-Linear Regarding linear and non-linear operation (amplifiers, final stages): While a Class-C amplifier circuit has far higher efficiency than a linear circuit, a Class-C amplifier is not ...

Oct 28, 2021 · When I was running 100w continuous, it was about 85 avg with no ALC. Like, come on, 15% loss of power is way better than your signal being 10 times as wide. I saw someone running PSK31 the other day, that mode is supposed to have about a 50 hz bandwidth.

Oct 8, 2020 · You can reduce the size of it proportionally by pressing the "M.Scope" hard-button under the color display which then gives more room for other features like the swr/alc/comp bar displays (press and hold the bar display above the spectrum display after activating the mini-scope to see bars) but as far as I can see, there is no option to modify ...

Apr 29, 2016 · With a high gain outboard PA, a 100 W transceiver would have to output only a small fraction of maximum power, thus requiring severe reduction in transceiver output gain adjustment & eliminating the chance that the transceiver's ALC line being activated / modulated / tickled by two different & separately operating PA stages going into overload ...
