Jan 10, 2023 · Just did this upgrade. First bought the 4070ti and got maybe 25% better fps. This puzzled me. Removed the 9700k with mobo, Went and got z790 with 13700kf. This tripled my fps in Warhammer 3 from 50 to almost 150. Cod went from a stuttery mess to 140-160fps. The 4070ti wasn't just bottlenecked, it was severely chocked. The old platforms can't pull modern GPUs.

The only time the stock 9700k will boost to 4.9Ghz is if 1 or 2 cores are under load ONLY. If 3 or 2-4 cores are, it will drop to 4.8Ghz, and if all 8 are loaded it will go to 4.6Ghz (which is what you saw). between a 9700k and a 9900k, there is very little difference in 1440p gaming, if you want real upgrade, you need to change your mobo.

See below for more details. -I ran Battlefield 2042 at 1440p using r/OptimizedGaming settings and my CPU was at 100% while my GPU was at 70ish%. The performance increase from a 3080 was noticeable but pretty modest.

May 5, 2020 · The amd equivalent to an i9 9900k is the ryzen 7 3800x. There really isn't an equivalent to the 9700k because all of the ryzen 3000 have hyperthreading. If anything the ryzen 5 3600 probably has the closest mulitcore performance. A ryzen 9 3900x far exceeds the 9900k in everything except gaming, where it loses by about 5%.
