Ratchet and Clank is a weird one due to what Nixxes did. Nixxes allocates a weirdly small amount of vram, and uses the system ram for the rest due to Windows having poor vram management according to Nixxes anyway. So it only allocates around 5-6GB of vram on 8GB gpus and 10-11GB on 16GB+ gpus.

7B GGUF models (4K context) will fit all layers in 8GB VRAM for Q6 or lower with rapid response times. Q8 will have good response times with most layers offloaded. 11B and 13B will still give usable interactive speeds up to Q8 even though fewer layers can be offloaded to VRAM.

Apr 8, 2024 · SDXL works great with Forge with 8GB VRAM without dabbling with any run options, it offloads a lot to RAM so keep an eye on RAM usage as well; esp if you use Controlnets. ComfyUI works well with with 8GB, you might get the occasional out of memory depending on how complex your workflow is.

For games that came out in 2023 or later, 8GB of VRAM is enough for 1080p gaming on PC, but consoles like the Series S do with a lot less (4-6). A Series X has 10 GB of effective VRAM to use, and it plays games at 4K. An equivalent PC would need about 12-16 GB of VRAM.

Easily 1440p and sometimes 4k in new games. 20gb an above is high end, easily 4k. It's not quite that simple, loads of VRAM won't make up for a poor gpu...

Jan 20, 2023 · Vram doesn't mean a whole lot. A GTX 1070 has 8gb of vram, but a 6700 xt wipes the floor with it. Look at PERFORMANCE not at vram/clock speed/core count. If you're doing data crunching applications or rending vram is more important sure. But for the majority of gamers look at performance graphs. Not specs Your friend is fucking stupid.
