The 633d ABW is an Air Force-lead mission support wing, serving both Air Force and Army units, as a result of a congressionally mandated joint-basing initiative between Langley AFB and Fort Eustis. The Wing is composed of the following units:

Col Matthew R. Altman is the Commander, 633d Air Base Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. As the Joint Base Commander, he commands three groups, providing installation support to more than 18,000 Air Force and Army personnel, including Headquarters Air Combat Command, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, four operational wings, eight brigades, and more than 20 major associate units.

On Jan. 29, 2010, the 633d ABW became the link in the joint basing initiative between Langley AFB and the U.S. Army’s Fort Eustis, which we call today Joint Base Langley-Eustis. In 2017, 633d ABW personnel supported Puerto Rico humanitarian relief efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Maria.

The 633rd Air Base Wing Judge Advocate provides legal advice and support to the 633 ABW Commander and more than 40 unit commanders and staff agencies in the areas of military justice, adverse administrative actions and ethics, civil, operations, environmental, labor and contract law.
