Originally equipped by the 1997 through 2017 Toyota Century luxury sedan, the 1GZ-FE is rated at a mere 276 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque from the factory. However, by the time it's stuffed into his Subaru WRX, Proulx is shooting for four-figures on the top end.

After successfully fitting the renowned six-cylinder 2JZ-GTE into a different Subaru, he made another project by doubling the cylinder count with Toyota’s 1GZ-FE this time around. The 12-cylinder engine initially propelled the luxurious 1997-2017 Toyota Century sedan.

While it’s already one of the cleanest and most impressive swaps we’ve seen in a Subaru of any kind, he tells us he does have intentions to fully build the internals of the 1GZ and turn the boost up, with power aspirations in the four-digit range.

It is a 5.0-liter 1GZ-FE V12 engine, and now it was used for the Subaru WRX. This engine in its most powerful configuration develops up to 295 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque, but Proulx has installed two G30-770 turbochargers, connecting rods and pistons.

It was imported from Japan and comes from the Toyota Century. Toyota’s 1GZ-FE V12 was built from 1997 to 2017 and produces 276 hp as per Japan’s gentlemen’s agreement.
