The 1880–81 Football Association Challenge Cup was the tenth staging of the FA Cup, England's oldest football tournament. Sixty-two teams entered, eight more than the previous season, although four of the sixty-two never played a match.

The 1880 FA Cup final was contested by Clapham Rovers and Oxford University at the Kennington Oval. Clapham Rovers won 1–0, the only goal being scored by Clopton Lloyd-Jones. [1]

The 1879-1880 edition also involved several clubs known by the modern audience, such as Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest. In the 1883-1884 season, the tournament reached 100 registered teams. By this time, the professional era began and the amateur teams would soon be outpaced.

The 1881 FA Cup final was contested by Old Carthusians and Old Etonians at the Kennington Oval. Old Carthusians won 3–0, the goals scored by Edward Wynyard , Edward Hagarty Parry, and Alexander Tod.

In the final, played at Kennington Oval on 25 March 1882, Old Etonians met Blackburn Rovers, who were the first team from outside London and the home counties to appear in an FA Cup Final. Blackburn Rovers included England internationals, Fred Hargreaves and his brother, John, and Jimmy Brown.
