One of the more popular beaches in Maui, Wailea beach is located behind the Grand Wailea Resort. This crescent-shaped beauty is the poster child for Hawaiian beaches at their best. Why?

The beach is wide, the sand perfect, and the ocean inviting. Views of Kaho’olawe, Molokini, Lana’i and the sights (and sounds) of whales are common in winter. When the ocean is calm, snorkeling is very good around the rocky outcroppings that define both ends of the beach.

However, the sand is powdery soft, and the waves are calm and gentle (so make sure to bring your snorkel gear and boogie board). One of the best beaches on East Maui, this was both picturesque and had all the modern facilities and convenience you want at a beach. Hotel staff were helpful despite us not being guests at the resort. Waters were reasonably calm so ok for swimming and snorkelling (best at the south end).
