For a similar cPanel experience: myVesta (vesta fork, better), HestiaCP, CyberPanel or ApisCP. If you're at least a basic linux user, go with centminmod. It's CLI based, pretty fast/good configuration, little to none overhead compared to the rest, in case you have a low-end VPS or need to squeeze the last bit of performance out of your machine.

cPanel's webmail is just a bunch of scripts that work with existing open source products, such as exim and roundcube. If any of your users have ever used Gmail or Office 365, they are going to have a comparatively poor experience. Many of these cPanel accounts offer a total of, say, 25GB storage capacity which includes all user mail.
