Aug 27, 2020 · OK, that 3rd smile, imagine if Zuko made that face throughout the ENTIRE show all the way to the end. No other expressions like anger, sadness, none of that, just the same smile over and over again, even during that flashback of his father, Ozai scarring him. Or better yet, when he sacrifices himself to save Katara, he still makes that face.

First half of season 3 Zuko is worth a mention too. Zuko continuing the journey without Iroh and finally building up to his realization that he chose a wrong destiny is still a great arc. For example, The Avatar and the Fire Lord is another great episode with Aang/Zuko parallels.

I don't think Zuko's an emo kid; he was a feisty, angry, short-tempered kid but never one to be all gloomy. I didn't like his behavior in the first half of s3 (besides e1) and I feel like Mai never really got to see how much Zuko developed and changed. Plus, I didn't like their relationship drama.

There's a barely visible, like, one frame smile at the end of episode 3 after Zuko and Iroh are leaving after Zuko fights Zhao. Iroh defends Zuko as honorable and says something humorous and his lips upturn into a slight smile super briefly before it cuts away.

Apr 24, 2023 · His hair had been shaved to get it out of the way of the burn. There’s a reason he shows very few expressions in that season. The burn would have tightened his face, making expressions much harder. The more he practiced over time, the looser his ligaments became, so the more he could scowl or smile. Aang was great rehab for Zuko.
