Prior to the Europeans sailing around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, there was a great Chinese explorer Zheng He. He was a loyal appointee of the Ming Dynasty, and this lesson cover the rise and decline of the Ming Dynasty.

General Zheng He - statue in Sam Po Kong temple, Semarang, Indonesia. Zheng He was a Chinese explorer who lead seven great voyages on behalf of the Chinese emperor. These voyages traveled through the South China Sea, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and along the east coast of Africa.

Zheng He on three maritime voyages (i.e., the fourth:1413–1415, the sixth:1421–1422, and the last, the seventh:1431–1433), recorded their overseas encounters in his book Yingya Shenglan

The artwork shows Zheng He leading one of his seven voyages. 3D models were placed in Blender and were further built on in Photoshop using painting and photobashing techniques to make them look more historically accurate and to give the treasure ships a more painterly look.

The 500-meter long scroll of Chinese paintings that reproduced the major historical event 'Zheng He's Voyages' in a panoramic art style was launched in the Zhong Kaitian Art Museum located in the M60 Creative Park in Kunming on the afternoon of May 10th.
