Jan 5, 2015 · I have a Zhen pairing knife that is VG-10 and made in Taiwan, IIRC. I bought mine as a build it yourself kit from Woodcraft. It is possible it is from the same producer. The grind and profile are fine on mine but the heat treat is not great, a lot of chipping and it does not take as good an edge as my Tojiro in VG-10.

What angle to sharpen? - BladeForums.com
Jun 8, 2019 · The book and the you tube videos all say to use the 25 dps for outdoor and pocket knives and the 20 dps for kitchen knives. I understand the idea of the 25 being tougher and good for general outdoor stuff. However both Buck and Case say to use an angle less than 20.

Jul 16, 2019 · All the knives I carry are either American or Japanese and I don't ever worry about the quality, mostly because the proof is in everyday I use them at work. I have one knife made in Taiwan, the Ikuchi from Spyderco, and it seems to be on par with my usual USA or Japanese made knives. In other words, Taiwan is probably a safe bet.
