Apr 20, 2021 · Yoko Kanno may be the composer but "The Seatbelts" are a group of veteran session musicians all with extensive careers in the industry like saxophonist Masato Honda, previously a member of the Jazz Fusion supergroup T-Square who played with artists like Toshiki Kadomatsu and Horii Katsumi.

Yoko Kanno has long been accused of plagiarising other musicians' work and some of the "accused pieces" made it onto Cowboy Bebop too. At first, I didn't want to believe that Kanno actually plagiarised, but after a fellow Bebop fan showed me a number of her Bebop tunes and the "original", I have to say that the similarities are uncanny.

Some internet searching suggests that this Yoko Kanno does yoga classes in Tokyo and plays "meditative piano". Though, interestingly they both claim to have attended Waseda University! I don't think these things are a good basis for famous composer Yoko Kanno leading a double life as a dedicated member of Avadhoota Datta Peetham.

Apr 23, 2012 · THIS THIS THIS! Wolf's Rain's soundtrack is so full of win, and I think it's Yoko Kanno's best (and most overlooked) work, but this song is one of my faves. It captures the mood and feel of the show perfectly, and the lyrics actually have some context and meaning. "Mouth on Fire" is another one of my favorites from that OST.
