XAFS is a spectroscopic technique that uses the absorption of X-rays to probe the physical and chemical structure of matter at an atomic scale. X-ray absorption spectroscopy is element-specific, in that X-rays are chosen to be at and above the binding energy of a particular core electronic level of a particular atomic species.
X-ray absorption fine structure - Wikipedia
X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) is a specific structure observed in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). By analyzing the XAFS, information can be acquired on the local structure and on the unoccupied local electronic states.
X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) – SIC - IIT Indore
EXAFS provides precise local structural information like bond distances, coordination number and type of neighboring atoms, and disorder in crystalline or non-crystalline systems.
XAFS database - IXAS Portal
This EXAFS database, which consists of just about every scan of data ever taken by Farrel Lytle, is a service of the International X-ray Absorption Society. The site is hosted by the Center for Synchrotron Radiation Research and Instrumentation at Illinois Institute of Technology.
Databases for XAFS - Argonne National Laboratory
Jun 3, 2006 · XAFS Data Library, a database of XAFS spectra, hosted at CARS XAFS Database at IIT, featuring the Farrel Lytle Database
What Is XAFS? X-ray Absorption Fine-Structure (XAFS) is the modulation of the x-ray absorption coefficient at energies near and above an x-ray absorption edge. XAFS is also referred to as X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and is broken into 2 regimes: XANES X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Spectroscopy EXAFS Extended X-ray Absorption Fine-Structure
Apr 11, 1997 · X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) refers to modulations in x- ray absorption coefficient around an x-ray absorption edge. XAFS is often divided (somewhat arbitrarily) into "EXAFS" (Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) …
XAFS can be interpreted as due to scattering of the photo-electron ejected from the absorbing atom by the photo-electric effect. Cross-section is a measure of the probability of interaction between the incident photons with the material via photoabsorption or scattering processes.
What is XAFS? X-ray Absorption Fine Structure spectroscopy uses the x-ray photoelectric effect and the wave nature of the electron to determine local structures around selected atomic species in materials Unlike x-ray diffraction, it does not require long range translational order – …
Data manipulation (EXCEL, ORIGIN, Gnuplot, ....) Easy to use (not on Mac-OS!) uncertainties and error bars is a key issue for reliable understanding and discussion of XAFS results. Everything being: other absorption edges, air, sample holder, matrices, chamber windows, etc... 1. Remove pre-edge. 2. Normalization.
