Wirt is one of two main protagonists of the Over the Garden Wall. He views the world in a serious way, unlike his younger half-brother, Gregory. He is determined and often makes a point of being a contrarian, which frequently leads the pair into trouble. He is voiced by Elijah Wood.

Wirt, the older brother, is a worry-prone teenager who would rather keep to himself than have to make a decision. His passions include playing the clarinet and writing poetry, but he usually keeps these private out of fear of being mocked.

Dec 19, 2024 · In its penultimate episode, Over the Garden Wall reveals its big twist: Wirt and Greg are modern-day kids who happened into the Unknown on Halloween night. Throughout the miniseries, Wirt references Sara, a girl he has a crush on.

Sep 26, 2021 · The whole story comes together after Wirt saves Greg from the Beast. They part from Beatrice and then it flashes back to them in the river — Wirt wakes and swims to Greg.

When Beatrice is heard screaming in the woods, Wirt (along with Greg and his frog) dash to the rescue on a horse he takes from the stable. They come upon the Woodsman, whom they have come to suspect might be the Beast. Greg is able to collect the unconscious Beatrice and they flee into the forest.

Over the Garden Wall is an Emmy Award -winning ten-part animated fantasy comedy Mini Series created by Patrick McHale, best known for his work on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time.

In the final episode, titled “The Unknown,” Wirt and Greg finally find their way home, leaving The Unknown behind. However, they are not the same as when they first entered the forest.
