Often, what the small minority wants to keep, prevents the masses from being interested. And Microsoft was aiming for a HUGE audience.

Aug 25, 2014 · It -seems- that WinME didn't get patched as much as older Win9x. Basically, due to LAWS, they weren't "unofficially" retaining "official" updates. This Forum is based in the USofA.

Jan 24, 2007 · INF [uSB20DRV.INF] tweaked to force install on WinME [work around SR/WFP (System Restore/Windows File Protection)]. To restore original drivers: Start button -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> select "Unofficial USB 2.0: Restore original drivers" -> click Add/Remove button.

Apr 9, 2008 · The WinME defrag.exe file should be able to run under Win98se. I've used it many times and it's great. Defrags FAT32 file systems a lot faster than the 98se version.

Aug 22, 2006 · I found WinME to be buggy, with frequent soft crashes (by soft I mean rebooting clears the problem, though unsaved data is lost.) There are too many unstoppable background processes, and retains most of the disadvantages of Win98. What I like about Win98 is that it can be configured to have the fewest number of background processes.
